Kitchen Chimney Repair in Hyderabad

For chimneys with weak suction, a motor that hums or will not start, noise, vibration, or buttons and lights that do not work. The technician tests the chimney at your home, tells you the cause and the cost, and repairs it only after you agree.

Cause explained firstMotor and fan checked

Chimney repair means finding and fixing the fault that stops a kitchen chimney working properly. Most problems fall into four groups: airflow (weak suction), the motor and fan (noise, humming, vibration, not starting), controls (buttons, touch panel, auto-clean) and electrical (no power, lights, internal wiring).

Chimney problems and their possible causes

Several faults can produce the same symptom, which is why the chimney is tested on site before anything is replaced.

SymptomPossible causesWhat gets checked
Weak suctionGrease in the filters or fan; a kinked, crushed or very long duct; a stuck non-return flap; a motor losing speedFilters, fan, duct route and flap, motor speed at each setting

Is it a cleaning job or a repair?

If washing the filters brings suction back, it was grease. If suction stays weak with clean filters, or there is noise, no power or dead controls, it is a repair.

Grease can also cause noise and vibration by weighing down the fan, so a noisy chimney that has not been cleaned in a long time sometimes needs a deep cleaning rather than a new part. The technician tells you which it is after checking. More on what each chimney noise usually means.

Safe checks before you call

  • Check that the chimney’s socket is switched on and the MCB has not tripped.
  • Wash the filters and see whether suction improves.
  • Look at the duct pipe where it is visible for a kink or a loose joint.
  • Record a short video of the noise or the weak suction for us.

Do not open the motor housing or control panel yourself, and switch the chimney off at the socket if you see sparks or smell burning.

Our guide to a kitchen chimney that is not working explains what each symptom usually means.

How a repair visit works

  1. Describe the problemTell us the brand, model and what is happening. A video helps.
  2. Test on siteThe technician checks power, controls, fan, motor and duct to find the actual cause.
  3. Cause and costYou are told what has failed, what the repair involves and what it costs, including any part.
  4. You decideThe repair goes ahead only if you agree.
  5. RepairThe fault is fixed or the part replaced.
  6. Test againSuction, all speeds, lights and controls are checked with you.

Chimney motor: repair or replace?

A motor that hums without spinning often has a failed capacitor, which is a small part. A motor with worn bearings can sometimes be serviced. A motor with a burnt winding usually has to be replaced. Things that decide it:

  • Which part has failed: capacitor, bearings or winding
  • Whether a matching motor or part is available for your model
  • The age and overall condition of the chimney
  • The repair cost compared with replacing the chimney

If a repair is not worth it for an old chimney, you will be told so.

Symptoms, testing steps and BLDC motors are covered in more detail on the chimney motor repair page.

Parts and charges

Repair charges depend on the fault and any part needed. You get the cost, including the part, before the repair starts. Ask whether a replacement part is from the brand or a compatible part, and whether the seller gives it a warranty of its own, so you can choose with full information. See how our charges work.

We are an independent service provider, not an authorised service centre for any brand. If your chimney is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, contact the brand first; outside repairs can affect that warranty.

Duct problems that look like motor problems

A chimney can only push air as freely as its duct lets it out. Weak suction with a healthy motor is often down to the duct:

  • Too long or too many bends. Each bend and extra metre reduces airflow. Short, straight routes move the most air.
  • Crushed or kinked flexible pipe behind cabinets or above a false ceiling.
  • Stuck flap. The non-return flap at the outlet can stick shut with grease or dust.
  • Blocked outside opening from a bird’s nest, mesh clogged with dust, or an exhaust fan sharing the hole.

Our guide on weak chimney suction covers this in more detail. If the duct needs rerouting, mention it when you book and we will tell you whether we can arrange it. If it needs a new wall opening, we cut it ourselves as an extra. More on chimney duct re-routing and the non-return flap.

Chimney repair questions

Why is my chimney suction weak even after cleaning?

Usually because of the duct or the motor: a long or kinked duct, a stuck outlet flap, a blocked outside opening, grease inside the fan, or a motor losing speed. A repair check finds which one.

Why does my chimney hum but not suck air?

A hum with the fan not turning commonly points to a failed capacitor, a fan jammed by grease or seized motor bearings. Switch it off at the socket to avoid overheating the motor and book a repair check.

Why is my chimney making noise?

Common causes are grease on the fan blades, worn motor bearings, loose screws inside the hood or a loose duct. A deep cleaning fixes grease-related noise; worn bearings need a repair.

Can a chimney motor be repaired or does it need replacing?

It depends on the failure. A capacitor is a small replacement, bearings can sometimes be serviced, and a burnt winding usually means a new motor. You are told which before any work.

How much does chimney repair cost in Hyderabad?

It depends on the fault and the part, so the cost is given after the chimney is tested at your home and before the repair starts. Parts are quoted separately and fitted only with your agreement.

My chimney’s touch panel does not respond. Can it be fixed?

Often. The cause may be grease or moisture on the panel, a worn switch or a faulty control board. The technician checks which and whether a replacement board is available for your model.
