Chimney Motor Repair in Hyderabad

For kitchen chimneys whose motor hums but does not spin, runs slowly, grinds, overheats or will not start. The technician tests the motor at your home and tells you whether it can be repaired, needs a part, or should be replaced, before any work starts.

Motor tested on siteRepair or replace explained

Yes, a chimney motor can often be repaired. A motor that hums without turning usually has a failed capacitor or a fan jammed by grease, and both are small fixes. Worn bearings can sometimes be serviced. A burnt winding, or a failed driver board on a BLDC motor, usually means replacing the motor or the board, if a matching part is available for your model.

Motor symptoms and what they usually mean

What you noticeCommon causes
Hums, but the fan does not turnFailed starting capacitor (AC motors); fan stuck in hardened grease; seized bearings
Starts only if the fan is pushed by handWeak capacitor; bearings starting to seize
Grinding, rattling or whiningWorn bearings; unbalanced or greasy fan; fan rubbing the housing; loose motor mounting
Runs but suction is weak at every speedMotor losing speed; grease-loaded fan; or a duct problem rather than the motor
Some speeds work, others do notSpeed switch or control board fault; a damaged winding tap
Gets very hot, smells of burning, or trips powerWinding damage or short circuit. Switch off at the socket and do not keep using it
Completely dead, lights also offUsually power supply, wiring or the control board, not the motor itself

Many complaints that sound like a motor fault are actually grease or the duct. A fan coated in oil moves far less air, and a long or kinked duct chokes even a healthy motor. That is why the fan and duct are checked before a motor is condemned. See weak chimney suction: cleaning, duct or motor? If the chimney will not start or respond at all, see kitchen chimney not working: causes and safe checks.

How the motor is diagnosed

  1. Power and controls first. Confirm the socket, plug, switches and control board are supplying the motor, so a good motor is not replaced for a bad switch.
  2. Fan and blower. Check the fan turns freely by hand and is not loaded with grease or rubbing the housing.
  3. Capacitor. On conventional AC motors, test the capacitor. It is a common, inexpensive failure.
  4. Bearings. Listen and feel for play, roughness or tightness in the shaft.
  5. Winding. Check the motor winding for continuity and signs of overheating.
  6. BLDC models. On BLDC (inverter) motors, check the driver or control board as well as the motor, because the electronics fail more often than the motor itself.
  7. Duct check. Confirm the duct is not the real cause of weak airflow.

Repair or replace?

  • Usually repairable: capacitor failure, fan jammed by grease, loose mounting, some bearing wear.
  • Usually replaced: burnt or shorted winding, badly seized motor, damaged shaft.
  • Depends on parts: whether a matching motor, fan or BLDC board is available for your brand and model.
  • Depends on the chimney: on an old chimney, a new motor can cost a large share of a new chimney. You will be told if repair is not worth it.

Charges

The cost depends on what has failed and on the part for your model, so it is quoted after the motor has been tested. You approve the quote before any part is fitted. If the chimney is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, claim it with the brand first, because an independent repair can affect the warranty.

Charges are explained on the chimney repair page.

Help us diagnose before the visit

  • Brand and model number. See the brands we service.
  • Whether it is a baffle-filter, filterless or auto-clean chimney
  • What the motor does: hums, grinds, runs slowly, trips power or does nothing
  • A short video with sound, sent on WhatsApp to +91 93477 37176, if you can

Safety: if you see sparks or smell burning, switch the chimney off at the wall socket and leave the motor housing closed.
