LPG or piped gas (PNG)?
Stoves are set up for one gas type. LPG and piped natural gas burn at different pressures, so a stove moved from an LPG cylinder to a PNG line, or the other way round, needs the right nozzles and flame adjustment. Running a stove with the wrong nozzles gives a weak, yellow or lifting flame.

What we leave to your gas supplier
Problems with the LPG cylinder, its valve or the regulator, and the piped-gas line and meter up to your appliance valve, are handled by your gas distributor or PNG supplier. We check the hose and connection from the regulator to the stove and tell you if the regulator side looks faulty.
A rubber gas hose hardens and cracks with age and heat. If yours is old, discoloured or stiff, have it replaced with a certified LPG hose.

Keep your stove working well
- Wipe spills when the stove is cool. Boil-overs block burner ports.
- Dry burners fully after washing. Wet burners light badly and rust.
- Seat burner caps flat. A tilted cap gives an uneven flame.
- Close the regulator at night or when travelling.
- Look at the hose now and then for cracks or hardening.

Why is my gas stove flame yellow instead of blue?
A yellow or orange flame usually means the burner is dirty, the air mixture is off, or the stove has the wrong nozzle for its gas type. Cleaning the burner and adjusting the flame normally brings back a steady blue flame.
Why does my gas stove click but not light?
The ignition is sparking but gas is not catching, often because of grease or water on the electrode, a cracked electrode, a wrong spark gap or blocked burner ports. These can usually be fixed at home.

Do not light anything or touch electrical switches. Close the regulator or gas valve, open doors and windows and leave the kitchen. For LPG in India call 1906; for piped gas call your supplier. Book a repair once the area is safe.

No. The cylinder, its valve and the regulator are handled by your LPG distributor, and the piped-gas line and meter by your PNG supplier. We check the hose and connection from the regulator to the stove.
