Chimney Filter Cleaning and Replacement in Hyderabad
Baffle, mesh and charcoal filters cleaned properly, or replaced with a matching filter when they are bent, rusted, torn or used up. We check the size, lock and fit for your model before the visit.
Chimney filters catch the oil in kitchen smoke before it reaches the motor. Baffle and mesh filters can be degreased and reused until they are bent, rusted or torn; charcoal filters in ductless chimneys cannot be washed and must be replaced. A blocked or damaged filter is one of the most common reasons a chimney loses suction or drips oil.

Chimney filter types at a glance
| Filter | How it works | Clean or replace |
|---|---|---|
| Baffle filter | Curved steel or aluminium panels make smoke change direction, so oil hits the panels and drains off | Clean regularly; replace if bent, rusted or the frame is damaged |
| Mesh or cassette filter | Layers of fine aluminium mesh trap oil as smoke passes through | Clean often, as it clogs fast; replace when the mesh tears or stays blocked |
| Charcoal or carbon filter | Absorbs smell in ductless chimneys that return air to the kitchen | Cannot be washed; replace as the manual advises, often every few months |
| Filterless chimney | Oil is caught on the blower and drained to a collector | No filter to replace; the blower needs deep cleaning |
Signs your filter needs attention
- Suction is weak even on the highest speed
- The filter is dark, sticky and heavy, or oil drips from it
- The mesh is torn, flattened or has holes
- The baffle is bent, rusted or no longer sits flush
- The filter lock or handle is broken and the filter falls or rattles
- A ductless chimney no longer removes cooking smells
Why filters wear out faster in Indian kitchens
Daily tadka, deep frying and long cooking with oil load a filter far faster than light cooking. Mesh filters in particular clog within weeks, and repeated harsh scrubbing or strong chemicals can tear the mesh or corrode aluminium. That is why many Hyderabad homes move to baffle filters, which handle heavy oil better and last longer.

What decides the charge
- Cleaning only, or replacement with new filters
- Number and type of filters

We confirm the charge before the visit. See how our charges work. If the chimney has not been opened in a while, a full chimney clean is often the better value.
Chimney filter cleaning and replacement: questions
How often should chimney filters be cleaned?
Mesh filters in kitchens that cook with oil daily often need cleaning every two to three weeks. Baffle filters usually need cleaning every month or two. Heavy frying means more often.
Can charcoal chimney filters be washed?
No. Charcoal or carbon filters absorb smells and lose that ability over time. Washing does not restore them, so they are replaced, usually every few months as the chimney’s manual advises.
Which is better, baffle or mesh filter?
For Indian cooking, baffle filters are usually better. They handle heavy oil without clogging as fast, are easier to clean and last longer. Mesh filters are cheaper but clog quickly and tear with repeated scrubbing.
Can you replace a chimney filter in Hyderabad?
Yes. We replace baffle, mesh and charcoal filters for homes across Hyderabad and Secunderabad, matched to your chimney’s size and lock where a matching filter is available.
Can I replace a mesh filter with a baffle filter?
Sometimes, if a baffle filter of the same outer size and fitting is available for your hood. Send the model and filter dimensions and we confirm.
Why is my chimney still weak after cleaning the filters?
Grease may have built up on the blower and inside the hood, or the duct or non-return flap may be blocked. Chimney deep cleaning or a suction check is the next step.
How do I find my chimney filter size?
Some filters have the size printed on the frame. Otherwise measure length, width and thickness, and note the model number on the sticker behind the filter. A photo of the lock helps us match it.
