Chimney Dismantling and Re-installation in Hyderabad

Shifting house, renovating the kitchen or swapping an old chimney for a new one: we take the chimney down safely, seal the old opening, and fit it again at the right height with a working duct and a suction test.

Chimney dismantling and re-installation means removing a kitchen chimney from the wall without damaging it, sealing the duct opening it leaves, and later mounting it at the correct height above the hob, connecting the duct to an outside opening and the power, and testing suction. It is the usual job when moving house or renovating a kitchen.

How the job is done

  1. Plan from photosSend the brand and model, photos of the current fitting and duct, and photos of the new kitchen wall and outside opening if you are moving.
  2. Dismantle safelyPower is switched off and disconnected, filters and covers removed, the duct detached and the chimney taken off its brackets without bending the hood.
  3. Seal and packThe old wall opening is covered so rain, dust and pests stay out, and filters, screws and brackets are packed together with the chimney.
  4. Prepare the new positionAt re-installation the mounting height, duct route and outside opening are checked, and we tell you if a new opening is needed.
  5. Mount and connectThe chimney is fixed level at the right height, the duct connected to the outside opening with its flap, and the power connected.
  6. TestThe chimney is run at each speed with the hob on to check suction, sound and lights, and we show you the result.

Things to check in the new kitchen

  • Height above the hob. Most chimney makers give about 65 to 75 cm above a gas hob; your manual has the exact figure.
  • An outside opening. A ducted chimney needs a hole or vent to the outside, close to the chimney and with few bends. If there is none, see chimney hole drilling.
  • Power socket. A switched socket near the top of the chimney, not behind the hood where it is hard to reach.
  • Width. The chimney should be at least as wide as the hob or stove below it.
  • Society rules. Some apartment buildings restrict new holes in outside walls, so check before planning a new opening.

Moving house in Hyderabad

Plan the chimney with the rest of the move. Dismantle a day or two before the packers come, so filters and small parts are packed with the chimney and not lost. Re-install after the new kitchen’s gas, power and countertop are ready, so the height can be set against the actual hob.

Both visits can be booked together; tell us the two locations and your moving dates.

Cleaning while it is down

A chimney off the wall is the easiest time to clean it thoroughly. Many customers have the filters and hood cleaned before re-installation, and a full deep clean if it has not been opened in a while.

What decides the charge

  • Dismantling only, re-installation only, or both
  • Chimney type, such as wall-mounted or island
  • Whether a new duct, duct extension or wall opening is needed
  • Cleaning added while the chimney is down

We confirm the charge before the visit. See how our charges work.

Before we arrive

  • Stop cooking and let the hob cool
  • Clear the counter under the chimney
  • Keep the chimney’s manual if you have it
  • For re-installation, have the new kitchen’s power socket and gas connection ready

Smell of gas? Do not switch the chimney or anything electrical on or off. Close the gas supply, open the windows and leave the kitchen. For LPG in India call 1906.

Chimney dismantling and re-installation: questions

Can a kitchen chimney be removed and installed in a new house?

Yes. A chimney can be dismantled, moved and re-installed in a new kitchen as long as it is in working order. The new kitchen needs a suitable wall, a power socket and an outside opening for the duct.

Do you dismantle and re-install chimneys when shifting house in Hyderabad?

Yes. We dismantle the chimney at your old home, seal the opening and pack the small parts, then re-install it at your new home anywhere in Hyderabad or Secunderabad.

Will the old duct fit in the new kitchen?

Sometimes. The duct length and route depend on where the new outside opening is. If the old duct is too short, damaged or the route is different, a new or extended duct is needed, which we tell you before the visit.

What if the new kitchen has no hole for the chimney duct?

A ducted chimney needs an opening to the outside. Options include a new wall opening by core cutting or using an existing window or ventilator. See chimney hole drilling for details.

What happens to the hole left in the old kitchen?

We cover it so rain, dust and pests cannot get in. If you want it permanently closed and plastered, that is usually done by a mason as part of your handover or renovation.

How long does dismantling and re-installation take?

Dismantling usually takes under an hour. Re-installation takes an hour or two when the opening and power are ready, longer if a new duct or opening is needed.

Should I clean the chimney before re-installing it?

It is the best time to. With the chimney off the wall, the filters, hood and inside can be cleaned more easily than when it is mounted.
