Chimney Cleaning and Deep Cleaning in Hyderabad

Professional cleaning for kitchen chimneys clogged by everyday frying and tadka, done in your kitchen. Choose basic cleaning for regular upkeep, or deep cleaning when grease has built up inside and suction has dropped.

Filters degreasedOil cup emptied

Chimney cleaning removes the grease and oil that collect in a kitchen chimney’s filters, hood and fan, so it pulls smoke out properly again. Basic cleaning covers the filters, oil collector and hood surfaces. Deep cleaning also opens the chimney, where its design allows, to clean the blower, fan and inner hood.

Signs your chimney needs cleaning

  • Smoke and cooking smell hang in the kitchen even on high speed
  • The filters look dark, sticky or have oil pooling in them
  • Oil drips from the hood onto the hob or the oil cup is overflowing
  • The chimney is louder than it used to be, or hums on every speed
  • Cabinets and tiles near the hob get greasy quickly
  • It has been more than six months since the last cleaning with daily cooking

If the chimney does not switch on at all, or suction stays weak after the filters were cleaned, that points to a fault rather than grease. See chimney repair.

Why grease matters

Kitchen fumes carry fine oil droplets. A chimney catches them in its filters, but some always get past and settle on the fan blades and inside the hood. As that layer thickens, the fan moves less air, the motor works harder and gets noisier, and a fan thrown off balance by grease can start to vibrate. Regular cleaning keeps all of that in check.

Basic cleaning vs deep cleaning

Basic cleaning deals with the grease you can reach without opening the chimney. Deep cleaning goes further in, to the blower and fan, which is where heavy grease cuts suction and causes noise.

What chimney cleaning includes and what it does not

Usually included

  • Covering the hob and counter before work starts
  • Removing and degreasing the filters
  • Emptying and cleaning the oil collector
  • Degreasing the outer hood, glass and control panel
  • For deep cleaning, opening the unit to clean the blower, fan and inner hood
  • Refitting everything and checking suction, speeds and lights

Not part of a cleaning

  • Repairing or replacing the motor, capacitor, switches, control board or lights (quoted separately as a repair)
  • Replacing a damaged or very old duct pipe
  • Cleaning ducting hidden inside walls or a false ceiling
  • Deep cleaning of kitchen tiles, cabinets or walls
  • Restoring scratched, faded or rusted finishes

What happens during a cleaning visit

  1. Check the chimneyThe technician notes the model, filter type and condition, and confirms basic or deep cleaning and the charge with you.
  2. Protect the kitchenThe hob and counter under the chimney are covered and the chimney is switched off at the socket.
  3. Filters and oil cupFilters come out to soak in a degreasing solution; the oil collector is emptied.
  4. Hood and insideThe hood is degreased inside and out. For deep cleaning, the unit is opened to clean the blower and fan.
  5. RefitClean, dry filters and parts go back in place.
  6. TestSuction is checked at each speed, along with the lights and controls, with you present.

Filter types and how they are cleaned

Baffle filters are steel panels with curved channels. Oil sticks to the curves as air changes direction. They are sturdy and are soaked and scrubbed.

Mesh or cassette filters are layers of fine aluminium mesh. They clog faster with Indian cooking and need gentle cleaning so the layers do not tear.

Filterless chimneys rely on airflow design and an oil collector. With no filter in front, more grease reaches the fan and inner hood over time, so periodic deep cleaning matters.

Charcoal filters are found in ductless (recirculating) chimneys and absorb smell. They cannot be washed; they are replaced when used up.

Limits of cleaning

Cleaning restores what grease has taken away, but some things it cannot change:

  • Some models have a sealed motor housing that is not meant to be opened, so the fan can only be cleaned as far as it is reachable.
  • A worn motor or failing capacitor will still be weak or noisy after cleaning; that needs a repair.
  • Old duct pipes with hardened grease, kinks or too many bends may need replacing to bring suction back.
  • Stains etched into the steel and scratches on glass may not come out fully.

We tell you before starting if your chimney has any of these limits.

What affects chimney cleaning charges

  • Basic or deep cleaning
  • How much grease has built up and when the chimney was last cleaned
  • Chimney type: wall-mounted, island or built-in
  • Filter type, and how easily the unit opens
  • Whether you add a hob or gas stove to the same visit

You get the charge for your chimney before any work starts. If a repair or a part turns out to be needed, it is quoted separately and done only if you agree. More on how our charges work.

Keeping it clean between visits

Run the chimney a few minutes before and after cooking, use a higher speed for frying, empty the oil cup when it is half full, and wash baffle or mesh filters every two to three weeks if you cook daily. Our guide on how often to clean a kitchen chimney has a full schedule, and chimney servicing explains routine check-ups.

Chimney cleaning questions

How often should a kitchen chimney be professionally cleaned?

With daily Indian cooking, roughly every three to six months, and every two to three weeks for washing the filters yourself. Lighter cooking can go longer. Follow your chimney’s manual if it gives an interval.

Is deep cleaning worth it, or is basic cleaning enough?

Basic cleaning is enough for regular upkeep. Choose deep cleaning if suction has dropped noticeably, the fan is noisy, or the chimney has not been cleaned for a year, because that grease sits in the blower and fan, which basic cleaning does not reach.

Will cleaning fix weak suction?

Often, when the cause is grease. If suction stays weak after cleaning, the cause is usually the duct, the fan or the motor, which needs a repair check.

Does an auto-clean or filterless chimney need cleaning?

Yes. Auto-clean drains loosened oil into a collector cup but does not clean the filters, duct or outer hood, and filterless chimneys let more grease reach the fan. Both still benefit from periodic cleaning.

Will cleaning damage my chimney’s finish?

It should not. Degreasers suited to steel and glass are used with soft cloths and brushes, and steel wool is avoided on visible surfaces. Point out any finish you are worried about before work starts.

Can you clean the hob or gas stove in the same visit?

Yes, you can book them together. Mention it when you book so the visit is planned for both. See gas hob service and gas stove service.
