Gas Stove Repair and Servicing in Hyderabad
For two, three and four burner gas stoves that sit on the counter: low or uneven flame, burners that are hard to light, stiff knobs, auto-ignition that has stopped working, and a full clean and service.
Smell of gas? Do not switch anything electrical on or off. Close the cylinder regulator or the gas supply valve, put out any flame, open doors and windows and leave the kitchen. Call your gas provider’s emergency number; for LPG in India it is 1906. Do not use the stove until the leak has been checked.
Gas stove servicing is a clean and check of the burners, nozzles (jets), valves and knobs so every burner lights easily and burns with a steady blue flame. Repair fixes a specific fault such as a blocked nozzle, a stiff or leaking valve, or failed auto-ignition.

See hob installationGas stove problems and what usually causes them
- Low flame on one burner: a partly blocked nozzle or burner ports, often from spills.
- Uneven or flickering flame: burner head not seated, ports clogged, or a damp burner.
- Yellow, sooty flame: dirty burner or nozzle, or the air mixing is off.
- Burner hard to light: blocked ports, worn igniter or weak spark.
- Knob stiff or tight: dried grease in the valve, which needs cleaning and greasing.
- Auto-ignition not sparking: igniter tip dirty or wet, worn switch or wiring.
Brass and aluminium burners
Many Indian stoves have brass burners, which last long but darken with use; others have aluminium burners that are lighter and need gentler cleaning. Both clog with spilled milk, dal and oil. Clean burner ports let gas mix with air properly, which is what gives a clean blue flame and saves gas.
What gas stove servicing usually involves
- Safety checkThe regulator is closed, and the hose and connection are looked at for cracks or a loose fit.
- BurnersBurner heads and caps are removed, soaked and their ports cleared.
- NozzlesEach nozzle (jet) is cleaned so the right amount of gas flows.
- Valves and knobsStiff valves are cleaned and greased so knobs turn smoothly.
- BodyThe top, pan supports and knobs are degreased.
- Flame testEvery burner is lit and checked for a steady blue flame, with you.
What a visit covers depends on the stove; we confirm it and the charge before starting. Any part needed is quoted separately.
Your gas hose and regulator
The rubber hose between the cylinder regulator and the stove ages with heat and time. Check it for cracks, hardness or a loose fit at either end, and replace it as your LPG distributor advises, using a hose meant for LPG. The regulator and cylinder belong to your gas distributor; for problems with them, contact the distributor.
Do not tighten gas joints, open valves or use flames to look for leaks yourself. Soapy water on a joint shows bubbles at a leak, but if you suspect one, close the regulator and call for help.
Gas stove or built-in hob?
A gas stove stands on the counter and can be lifted off; a hob is fitted into a cut-out in the counter and usually has a glass top and a flame failure device. The problems overlap, but the parts differ. For built-in hobs, see gas hob service. For a stove with an oven below, see cooking range service.
If you also have a kitchen chimney, a chimney cleaning can be added to the same visit.
Gas stove questions
Why is one burner on my gas stove giving a low flame?
Most often the nozzle or burner ports of that burner are partly blocked, usually by spills. Cleaning the burner and nozzle normally restores the flame; if not, the valve needs checking.
Why is my gas stove knob hard to turn?
Old grease dries inside the valve and makes the knob stiff. Servicing cleans and regreases the valve. Do not force the knob, and do not oil it from outside.
How often should a gas stove be serviced?
Clean the burners yourself every week or two with daily cooking. A professional service is worth doing when a flame turns yellow or low, a knob gets stiff or ignition weakens.
My auto-ignition gas stove does not spark. What could it be?
Common causes are a dirty or wet igniter tip, a worn ignition switch or a loose wire. Let a spill dry fully first; if it still does not spark, book a repair check and use a lighter in the meantime.
Do you replace LPG regulators or cylinders?
No. The regulator and cylinder are supplied and maintained by your LPG distributor, so contact them for those.
