Kitchen Chimney Installation and Dismantling in Hyderabad
Fitting a new kitchen chimney, replacing an old one, or taking one down for a renovation or house move and fitting it again. Check the points below before the visit so the installation goes in one go.
Chimney installation means mounting the chimney at the height your model’s manual gives above the hob, connecting its duct to an opening to the outside, plugging it into a suitable power point and then testing suction, speeds and lights. Dismantling is the same work in reverse, done carefully so the chimney can be used again.
Before installation: what to check
- Chimney size. The chimney should be at least as wide as the hob or stove: a 60 cm chimney for a 2 or 3 burner stove, 90 cm for a 4 or 5 burner hob is common.
- Mounting height. Manufacturers give a height range above the hob in the manual, often around 65 to 75 cm for gas hobs. Follow the figure for your model.
- Wall or ceiling. The wall behind a wall-mounted chimney must be solid enough to hold screws and anchors. Island chimneys hang from the ceiling.
- Way out for the duct. An opening to the outside close to the chimney, reached with as few bends as possible. More on chimney duct installation.
- Power point. A three-pin earthed socket near the top of the chimney, out of reach of heat and steam.
- Ductless option. If no outside opening is possible, a recirculating chimney with charcoal filters is an option, but it removes smell rather than smoke and grease.
Safety you should know
If there is no suitable power point, or the existing socket is loose, scorched or not earthed, get it fixed by a licensed electrician before the installation. Do not run a chimney from an extension board.
Gas pipes and the hob’s gas connection should not be moved to make room for a chimney except by your gas provider or a qualified gas fitter.
Keep the manual and bill handy. Installing at the height and in the way the manual describes matters for performance and, for a new chimney, for the manufacturer’s warranty.
What a standard installation usually covers, and what is extra
Kitchens differ, so tell us about your wall, duct route and power point when you book. We confirm what your installation includes and the charge before the visit.
Usually part of installation
- Marking the height and position as per the manual
- Fixing the mounting bracket and hanging the chimney
- Connecting the duct supplied with the chimney to the existing outside opening
- Plugging into an existing suitable socket
- Testing suction, every speed, lights and controls
Often extra or arranged separately
- Cutting a new hole through the wall for the duct (core cutting), which we do as an extra
- Extra duct pipe, bends or a cowl beyond what came with the chimney
- New electrical points or wiring (by an electrician)
- Cutting kitchen cabinets, chimney covers or false ceilings
- Removing and disposing of the old chimney
How a chimney installation is done
- Share the detailsBrand and model, chimney width, hob type, and photos of the wall, the outside opening and the power point.
- Confirm the planWe confirm what the job involves, anything extra and the charge before the visit.
- Mark and mountHeight and centre are marked from the manual, the bracket is fixed and the chimney hung level.
- Duct and powerThe duct is run to the outside opening with as few bends as possible, and the chimney plugged in.
- TestSuction at each speed, lights, controls and auto-clean (if fitted) are checked with you.
- HandoverYou are shown how to remove the filters and empty the oil cup.
Chimney dismantling and shifting
Chimney dismantling means taking the chimney off the wall or ceiling, disconnecting the duct and power, and packing the parts so the chimney can be fitted again. It is usually needed for kitchen renovation, replacing an old chimney, or moving house.
- Renovation: the chimney is taken down before tiling or cabinet work and refitted once the kitchen is ready.
- Moving house: the chimney is dismantled at the old home and installed at the new one. Check that the new kitchen has an outside opening and a power point in the right place.
- Replacing: the old chimney is removed and the new one installed in the same visit where the opening and power point suit it.
The old duct is often too greasy or too short to reuse; you will be told if a new one is needed. A cleaning before refitting is a good time to deep clean the chimney too.
Wall-mounted, island and built-in chimneys
| Type | Where it fits | Installation notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wall-mounted | Hob against a wall | Most common; needs a solid wall and a nearby outside opening |
| Island | Hob on a kitchen island | Hangs from the ceiling; the duct usually runs through a false ceiling |
| Built-in | Inside an overhead cabinet | Cabinet cut-out must match the model’s dimensions |
Tell us the type when you book so the visit is planned correctly.

Bought a new chimney?
Many brands include installation with a new chimney, or offer it through their own service. Check your bill or the brand’s helpline first, since using their installation may matter for the warranty. If installation is not included, or you are fitting a chimney you already own, we can help.
What affects installation charges
- Installation only, or dismantling and reinstallation
- Wall-mounted, island or built-in
- Whether an outside opening and power point already exist
- Duct length and number of bends
- Any cabinet, ceiling or wall work

Chimney installation questions
How high should a kitchen chimney be above the hob?
Use the height in your chimney’s manual. For gas hobs, manufacturers commonly specify around 65 to 75 cm between the hob and the bottom of the chimney. Too low is a heat and safety risk; too high weakens suction.
How long does chimney installation take?
It depends on the kitchen. A wall-mounted chimney going onto an existing opening and power point is a much shorter job than one that needs a new wall opening, a long duct or cabinet work. We give you an idea of the time when we confirm the plan.
Do I need a hole in the wall to install a chimney?
A ducted chimney needs an opening to the outside for the duct. If your kitchen has none, we can cut one through the wall (core cutting), which is charged extra, or you can choose a ductless chimney with charcoal filters. Tell us about the wall when you book and we confirm the charge before the visit.
Can you install a chimney I bought online?
Yes, send the brand and model when you book. Check first whether the brand includes installation, since that may matter for the warranty.
Can you shift my chimney to my new house?
Yes. The chimney is dismantled at the old home and installed at the new one. Make sure the new kitchen has an outside opening and a power point near where the chimney will go.
What size chimney do I need for my hob?
At least as wide as the hob: commonly 60 cm for 2 and 3 burner stoves and 90 cm for 4 and 5 burner hobs.
