Simple hoods are cheap to keep going

Most Inalsa chimneys are 60 cm baffle-filter hoods with a conventional motor and push-button or basic switch controls. There is no driver board, no gesture sensor and no heating element on most of the range.

That matters when something goes wrong. A dead speed on a push-button hood is usually a switch, not a board. A humming motor is usually a capacitor. Both are inexpensive parts, so an Inalsa is often worth repairing when a more complex hood of the same age would not be. We will tell you honestly either way.

Common Inalsa chimney problems

These are the Inalsa complaints we attend to most often in Hyderabad. Because the hoods are mechanically simple, most have cheap fixes.

Times are for one technician at your home and exclude waiting for a spare part that has to be ordered.

Inalsa chimney models we service

Inalsa chimneys sold in India, including the models below. Figures are as published by Indian retailers; your unit’s exact specification is on the rating sticker inside the hood.

How to read your Inalsa model code

Inalsa codes are the most readable of any brand on this site. The suffix tells you the size, finish and filter type directly, which means a photo of your sticker usually tells us everything we need before the visit. Inalsa does not publish a key, so the entries below are read from retail listings.

CodeWhat it meansWhy it matters for a repair
60 / 75Width of the hood in centimetresDecides the canopy, glass and bracket we carry
BKBlack finishMatters only for replacement glass or trim panels
SSStainless steel finish, as on the Smash 60 SSBFStainless bodies tolerate stronger degreasers than painted ones
BFBaffle Filter, the most common Inalsa designPlates can be washed by hand or in a dishwasher and are rarely replaced
ACAuto Clean, as on the Crescent 60BKSFACExpect a heating or oil-release system that can fail while the fan still runs
MACAppears on the Zylo and Maris. Inalsa does not state what the M denotesThese are the filterless models, so the cone needs hand stripping
SFAppears on the Crescent code alongside ACQuote the full code and we will match the part rather than guess

Where to find it: on the rating sticker inside the hood, usually under the canopy once the baffle plates are unclipped. An Inalsa code reads as a string such as 60BKBF or 60BKSFAC.

Inalsa warranty, and what to check

Inalsa does not publish a single consistent warranty term across its chimney range, and the brand appears less often on mainstream retail listings than Faber, Elica or Glen. Some models are sold with one year on the product; others state longer motor cover.

So on an Inalsa the honest answer is to read your own invoice rather than trust a figure quoted on any website, including this one. If you are inside cover, claim from Inalsa or the retailer who sold it. We will tell you when a job looks like a warranty claim.

Because the hoods are inexpensive, it is also worth asking whether a repair is economic at all. We will say so plainly when it is not.

What we handle

Deep cleaning, baffle plate work, clips and springs, switches, capacitors, bearings, oil collectors and channels, lamps and holders, ducting, installation and re-siting, and any hood past its cover.

Parts availability is the one real constraint. Inalsa is a smaller presence in this market than the major brands, so model-specific parts such as glass panels and canopy trims can be hard to source. Universal parts — motors, capacitors, switches, lamps, baffle plates — we can usually fit without difficulty.

How an Inalsa service visit works

  1. You send the symptom. Call or send a short video of the chimney running. Sound and smoke tell us more than a description, and it lets us carry the right spare on the first visit.
  2. We tell you what it is likely to be. You get a probable cause and a price range before anyone travels, along with the visit charge. Send a photo of the sticker and the code will tell us the size, finish and filter type straight away.
  3. On-site diagnosis. The technician opens the hood, checks suction at the canopy, inspects the oil channel, duct and flap, then shows you the fault before quoting.
  4. Repair or deep clean. Work is done at your home. Floors and the hob are covered, oil-soaked parts are degreased in a tray, and old parts are handed to you.
  5. Test and hand over. We run every speed, check noise and suction with the kitchen door shut, clean the work area and give you a dated bill.

Full detail on charges is on the service charges page, and the areas we cover are listed under service areas.

Inalsa chimney questions

Is an Inalsa chimney worth repairing?

Usually yes, because the faults are cheap. Most Inalsa hoods are baffle-filter models with a conventional motor and push-button switches, so a dead speed is normally a switch and a humming motor is normally a capacitor. Both are inexpensive parts. Where a hood needs a new motor plus a panel, we will tell you plainly that replacement may cost less than the repair.

What do the letters in 60BKBF mean?

Inalsa codes are the clearest of any brand we service. 60 is the width in centimetres, BK is a black finish, SS is stainless steel, BF is baffle filter, AC is auto clean, and MAC appears on the filterless models. So a 60BKBF is a 60 cm black baffle-filter hood. Send us a photo of the sticker and we will know what to bring.

How long is the Inalsa chimney warranty?

Inalsa does not publish one consistent term across its chimney range, and we would rather say so than quote you a figure we cannot verify. Read your own invoice. If you are inside cover, claim from Inalsa or the retailer who sold the hood.

Can I wash the baffle filters myself?

Yes, and on an Inalsa you should. The stainless plates unclip and can be washed by hand or in a dishwasher, and doing that every few weeks keeps the suction up. What home washing does not reach is the channel behind the plates, the impeller and the duct mouth, which is what a deep clean is for.

My Inalsa never clears the smoke properly. Is it faulty?

Possibly not. Much of the range sits between 950 and 1,100 m³/hr, and in a large kitchen with heavy frying that is simply not enough air however clean the hood is. We check the duct and the air replacement first, then tell you honestly whether the hood is undersized rather than sell you parts that will not help.

Are Inalsa spare parts available?

Partly. Universal parts such as motors, capacitors, switches, lamps and baffle plates we can source and fit without difficulty. Model-specific parts such as glass panels and canopy trims are harder, because Inalsa is a smaller presence here than the major brands. We tell you at the quoting stage whether a part can be obtained at all.

Do you service the filterless Zylo and Maris models?

Yes. Those are the MAC-coded hoods, where oil runs down an inner cone to a collector instead of being caught by plates. They need the cone stripped by hand, which takes longer than cleaning a baffle hood, and emptying the collector is not a substitute for that.

Which areas do you cover?

Hyderabad and Secunderabad, including Gachibowli, Kondapur, Madhapur, Kukatpally, Miyapur, Nizampet, Bachupally, Manikonda, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Mehdipatnam, Attapur, Uppal and LB Nagar. The full list is on the service areas page.
