IFB Chimney Service in Hyderabad
Repair, deep cleaning and installation for every IFB kitchen chimney — the 10-speed BLDC filterless hoods, Intelligent Filterless Auto Clean models, hand-sensor panels and older IFB hoods — at your home across Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
We are an independent appliance repair business servicing IFB kitchen chimneys at home in Hyderabad. We handle deep cleaning, BLDC motor and driver-board faults, Intelligent Filterless Auto Clean and Heat Clean problems, hand sensor and feather-touch panels, and new installation. We are not an authorised IFB service centre, so if your hood is inside its two-year warranty, go to IFB first — we will tell you so rather than quote you.

A cleaning cycle that starts itself
IFB does something most brands do not. On the Intelligent Filterless Auto Clean hoods the cycle can be started with a button, but it also activates on its own after every 30 uses, and a separate Heat Clean function runs for ten minutes.
That is genuinely useful, and it also produces a complaint unique to IFB: owners ring us because the chimney “switched itself on and got hot”. In most cases nothing is wrong — it is the 30-use cycle doing exactly what it was designed to do. We ask when it last happened before booking a visit you may not need.
Common IFB chimney problems
These are the IFB complaints we attend to most often in Hyderabad. On the BLDC hoods the obvious diagnosis is frequently the wrong one, so we test before quoting.
| Symptom | Most likely cause | What we do | Typical time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chimney switched on by itself and became hot | Usually not a fault: the auto-clean cycle self-activating after 30 uses | Confirm the cycle count and behaviour on the phone, and save you a visit where nothing is wrong | No visit |
| Hood will not start, no sound at all | A failed BLDC driver or controller board rather than the motor itself | Test and replace the driver board; replace the motor only if it has genuinely failed | 60–120 min |
| Suction weak although the fan sounds fast | Inner cone and impeller coated with hardened oil the auto-clean cycle never reaches | Strip the hood, degrease the cone and impeller, flush the oil channel and duct mouth | 75–110 min |
| Auto clean runs but the hood is still greasy | Heat Clean element open circuit, or the cycle is far too infrequent for daily cooking | Test and replace the element, degrease by hand, set a realistic interval | 60–120 min |
| Hand sensor ignoring you, or triggering on its own | Sensor lens filmed with oil, or steam being read as a hand | Clean and re-calibrate the sensor, or replace the module | 40–70 min |
| Speeds stuck or RPM display frozen | Control board fault, or oil ingress behind the feather-touch glass | Clean and test the panel and board; repair the track or replace the board | 45–90 min |
| Smoke not clearing in recirculation mode | Charcoal filter saturated, which is a consumable rather than a fault | Replace the charcoal filter and advise a realistic replacement interval | 30–60 min |
Times are for one technician at your home and exclude waiting for a spare part that has to be ordered.
IFB chimney models we service
All IFB chimneys, current and discontinued, including the models below. Figures are as published by IFB; your unit’s exact specification is on the rating sticker inside the hood.
| Model | Width | Suction | Filter and cleaning | Controls |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IFB IT AC FL BLDC 90 | 90 cm | 1500 m³/hr | Filterless, Intelligent Filterless Auto Clean | Hand sensor and feather touch, 10 speeds |
| IFB IT AC FL BLDC 60 | 60 cm | Per IFB listing | Filterless, Intelligent Filterless Auto Clean | Hand sensor and feather touch, 10 speeds |
| IFB CS AC FL BLDC 90 | 90 cm | Per IFB listing | Filterless, auto clean | Feather touch, 10-speed BLDC |
| IFB CS AC FL BLDC 60 | 60 cm | Per IFB listing | Filterless, auto clean | Feather touch, 10-speed BLDC |
| IFB GL HC 108 90 | 90 cm | Per IFB listing | Heat clean | Per IFB listing |
| IFB GL HC 108 60 | 60 cm | Per IFB listing | Heat clean | Per IFB listing |
Where a figure is not published for a size we have written “per IFB listing” rather than guess it. Older IFB hoods with mesh or baffle filters are still serviced. Call us with the number on your sticker.
How to read your IFB model number
IFB codes its chimneys rather than naming them, so the model number itself tells you the cleaning system and motor type. IFB does not publish a key for the letters, so the entries below are read from IFB’s own product pages.
| Code | What it means | Why it matters for a repair |
|---|---|---|
| BLDC | A brushless DC motor, confirmed by IFB at 130 W with 10 speeds and a booster mode | A dead hood is usually the driver board, not the motor winding, so we test the board first |
| FL | Filterless. IFB describes filterless technology for extracting smoke and odours | The cone must be stripped by hand. Running the auto-clean cycle is not a substitute |
| AC | Auto Clean, appearing on the Intelligent Filterless Auto Clean hoods | Means a cycle that also self-triggers after 30 uses, which owners often mistake for a fault |
| HC | Heat Clean, appearing on the GL HC range | Expect a heating element that can fail on its own while the fan still runs normally |
| IT / CS / GL | Range markers on IFB’s chimney line-up. IFB does not state what the letters stand for | Identifies the generation, so quote the full code when you call |
| 60 / 90 | Width of the hood in centimetres | Decides the canopy, glass and bracket we carry |
| Recirculation mode | IFB hoods can run ducted or recirculating, filtering air and returning it to the room | In recirculation the charcoal filter is a consumable; a saturated one stops clearing smoke |
Where to find it: on the rating sticker inside the hood, usually under the canopy or at the back near the duct outlet. IFB codes read as a string such as IT AC FL BLDC 90.
IFB’s warranty and spares support
IFB lists two years warranty on the IT AC FL BLDC 90 together with seven years spares support. That second figure is worth as much as the first. A warranty covers defects for two years; a spares commitment means parts should still exist in year six, which is when an independent repair actually matters.
If your hood is inside those two years, book IFB rather than us. They run their own service network and honour the cover properly.
Cover differs by model and by the dealer you bought from, so check your own invoice before assuming these figures apply to your hood.
What we handle instead
Everything outside the warranty: deep cleaning, oil and collector faults, blocked or badly routed ducts, charcoal filters in recirculation mode, lamps, sensor lenses, physical damage, installation and re-siting, and any hood past its cover.
IFB’s spares support also makes older hoods worth repairing rather than replacing, which is not true of every brand in this market. We will tell you honestly when a hood is worth keeping and when it is not.

How an IFB service visit works
- You send the symptom. Call or send a short video of the chimney running, and tell us the code on the sticker if you can reach it.
- We check whether it is a fault at all. On IFB hoods the auto-clean cycle self-triggers, so we rule that out before booking a visit, and we check whether you are inside the two-year warranty.
- On-site diagnosis. The technician opens the hood, checks suction at the canopy, tests the driver board, inspects the duct and flap, then shows you the fault before quoting.
- Repair or deep clean. Work is done at your home. Floors and the hob are covered, oil-soaked parts are degreased in a tray, and old parts are handed to you.
- Test and hand over. We run every speed, check noise and suction with the kitchen door shut, clean the work area and give you a dated bill.
Full detail on charges is on the service charges page, and the areas we cover are listed under service areas.
IFB chimney questions
My IFB chimney turned itself on and got hot. Is it broken?
Almost certainly not. On IFB’s Intelligent Filterless Auto Clean hoods the cleaning cycle activates automatically after every 30 uses, and the Heat Clean function runs for about ten minutes. The hood getting warm during that is the design working. Tell us when it last happened and roughly how often you cook, and we can usually confirm it on the phone without a visit.
How long is the IFB chimney warranty?
IFB lists two years warranty with seven years spares support on the IT AC FL BLDC 90. Cover varies by model, so check your invoice. If you are inside the two years, book IFB rather than us. The seven-year spares commitment is the part that matters later, because it means a board or motor should still be obtainable well after the warranty ends.
My IFB chimney is dead. Do I need a new motor?
Usually not. IFB’s current hoods use a 130 W BLDC motor driven by a separate controller board, and that board fails far more often than the winding. We test the driver first, which frequently turns a motor replacement into a much smaller board repair.
What do the letters in IT AC FL BLDC 90 mean?
IFB does not publish a key, but from its own product pages: BLDC is the brushless DC motor, FL is filterless, AC is the auto-clean system, HC on the GL range is Heat Clean, and 60 or 90 is the width in centimetres. IT, CS and GL are range markers IFB does not explain. Quote the whole code when you call and we will know what to bring.
Does the auto-clean cycle replace a deep clean?
No, although IFB’s self-triggering cycle helps more than most. It loosens grease and moves it towards the collector, but it does not clean the inner cone, the impeller blades, the motor housing or the duct, and those are the surfaces that cost you suction. A hand strip-down every four to six months is still needed in a Hyderabad kitchen.
My IFB is not ducted. Why is smoke not clearing?
IFB hoods can run in recirculation mode, where air is filtered through a charcoal filter and returned to the room rather than pushed outside. That filter is a consumable, not a repairable part, and once saturated it stops clearing smoke and odour however well the fan runs. Replacing it fixes it. If your kitchen allows a duct, ducting the hood works better than any filter.
Do you fit genuine IFB spare parts?
We use genuine parts where they are available to independent dealers, and OEM-grade equivalents where IFB supplies only through its own network. IFB’s spares support makes genuine parts easier to obtain than with some brands. We tell you which one is going in before we fit it.
Which areas do you cover for IFB service?
Hyderabad and Secunderabad, including Gachibowli, Kondapur, Madhapur, Kukatpally, Miyapur, Nizampet, Bachupally, Manikonda, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Mehdipatnam, Attapur, Uppal and LB Nagar. The full list is on the service areas page.
