What “filterless” really means here
Hindware describes its filterless hoods plainly: there is no filter, only a screen that stops you touching the motor and blower assembly. Oil is meant to run past that screen and collect in a tray.
In a Hyderabad kitchen that oil does not all reach the tray. It settles on the screen, the blower wheel and the inside of the cone, and that is exactly where suction is lost. None of it is reachable without opening the hood, which is why emptying the tray never restores the pull.
Common Hindware chimney problems
These are the Hindware complaints we attend to most often in Hyderabad. Oil leakage is by far the most common, and it is usually a blocked channel rather than a faulty part.
| Symptom | Most likely cause | What we do | Typical time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oil dripping from the hood onto the hob | Oil channel choked upstream of the tray, or the collector is not seated correctly | Flush the channel, reseat or replace the collector, renew a hardened gasket | 45–75 min |
| Suction dropped although the fan sounds normal | Blower screen, impeller and inner cone coated with hardened oil | Strip the hood, degrease the screen, impeller and cone, clear the duct mouth | 70–100 min |
| Auto clean runs but the hood stays greasy | The cycle only moves oil; the cone and blower have never been cleaned by hand | Full hand strip-down, then set a realistic cleaning interval | 60–110 min |
| Chimney hums but the fan does not turn | Seized bearing, failed capacitor, or an open-circuit winding | Test and swap the capacitor first; rewind or replace the motor if the winding has failed | 60–150 min |
| Hood starts or changes speed on its own | Motion sensor reading steam or a greasy lens as a hand | Clean and re-calibrate the sensor lens, or replace the module | 40–70 min |
| Touch panel dead or one speed missing | Oil ingress behind the glass onto the control board | Clean and test the panel and board, repair the track, or replace the panel | 45–90 min |
| Rattling or droning at high speed | Impeller unbalanced by uneven oil, or a worn bearing | Clean and re-balance the impeller, replace the bearing and re-grease the shaft | 60–120 min |
Times are for one technician at your home and exclude waiting for a spare part that has to be ordered.

Hindware terms, and what they mean for a repair
Hindware names its hoods rather than coding them, so the model name tells you little on its own. What matters for a repair is the technology listed on the box. These are the terms Hindware uses on its own listings.
| Term | What it means | Why it matters for a repair |
|---|---|---|
| Filterless technology | Hindware’s term for a hood with no filter, only a screen in front of the motor and blower | The screen, blower wheel and cone must be degreased by hand; emptying the tray does nothing for them |
| Auto clean | A cycle that loosens oil and residue inside the hood | Keeps oil moving but never cleans the cone, blower or duct, so a hand clean is still needed |
| Motion Sensor Technology | The hood responds to a hand passing in front of a sensor | A hood starting by itself is almost always this sensor, not a board fault |
| Oil collector | The removable tray that catches drained oil | A tray that no longer seats properly is the single most common cause of a leaking Hindware hood |
| 60 / 75 / 90 | Width of the hood in centimetres | Decides the canopy, glass and bracket we carry |
| CMH or m³/hr | Air the hood moves per hour at full speed | A 1,200 m³/hr hood in a large or heavily used kitchen will leak smoke no matter how clean it is |
Where to find it: on the rating sticker inside the hood, usually under the canopy or at the back near the duct outlet. A photo of that sticker tells us which part to bring.
Hindware’s warranty, and when to claim it
Hindware’s published cover on the Lexia 75 is twelve months onsite on the product and ten years on the motor, covering manufacturing defects and excluding physical damage. That is a short product warranty next to the five years Faber and Elica publish, but a long motor warranty.
The practical effect is the same as with Glen. After one year the panels, boards, sensors, lamps and every oil-related fault become your own cost, while the motor stays worth claiming for a decade.
Cover differs by model and by the dealer you bought from, so check your own invoice before assuming these figures apply to your hood.
What we handle instead
Everything outside that motor claim: deep cleaning, oil leakage and collector faults, blocked or badly routed ducts, control panels and sensors, lamps, installation and re-siting, physical damage, and any hood past its cover.
Oil leakage is worth calling about early. Left alone, oil creeps past the collector into the body and down the wall, and what began as a cleaning job turns into panel and cabinet damage.

How a Hindware service visit works
- You send the symptom. Call or send a short video of the chimney running. Sound and smoke tell us more than a description, and it lets us carry the right spare on the first visit.
- We tell you what it is likely to be. You get a probable cause and a price range before anyone travels, along with the visit charge.
- On-site diagnosis. The technician opens the hood, checks suction at the canopy, traces the oil channel, inspects the duct and flap, then shows you the fault before quoting.
- Repair or deep clean. Work is done at your home. Floors and the hob are covered, oil-soaked parts are degreased in a tray, and old parts are handed to you.
- Test and hand over. We run every speed, check noise and suction with the kitchen door shut, clean the work area and give you a dated bill.
Full detail on charges is on the service charges page, and the areas we cover are listed under service areas.
Hindware chimney questions
Why is my Hindware chimney leaking oil?
Almost always the oil channel between the blower and the collector is choked with hardened grease, so oil backs up and finds another way out. The second most common cause is a collector tray that no longer seats flush, which is easy to cause when the tray is removed and refitted repeatedly. Both are cleaning jobs, not part failures, and both get worse the longer they are left.
How long is the Hindware chimney warranty?
On the Lexia 75, Hindware lists twelve months onsite on the product and ten years on the motor. Cover varies by model, so check your invoice. If the motor itself has failed and you are inside that ten years, claim it from Hindware rather than paying us.
My Hindware is filterless. What is there to clean?
Hindware’s own description is that there is no filter, only a screen in front of the motor and blower. Oil still coats that screen, the blower wheel, the inside of the cone and the first stretch of duct. Emptying the collector clears what already drained; it does nothing for what is stuck on the way there, and that build-up is the usual reason a two-year-old filterless hood pulls badly.
Does auto clean mean I never need a deep clean?
No. Auto clean loosens oil and moves it towards the collector. It does not clean the blower screen, the impeller blades, the motor housing or the duct, and those are exactly the surfaces that cost you suction. A hand strip-down every four to six months keeps a Hindware hood pulling as it did when new.
Why does my Hindware chimney start on its own?
Models with Hindware’s Motion Sensor Technology respond to a hand passing in front of a sensor, and an oily lens or a rising plume of steam reads the same way. Cleaning and re-calibrating the lens fixes most cases; a failed sensor module is a quick swap.
Do you repair Hindware chimneys out of warranty?
Yes, and that is most of our Hindware work. With a one-year product warranty, Hindware hoods reach independent technicians quickly. We repair, deep clean and reinstall them at any age, including discontinued models, as long as a motor or board of the right rating is still available.
Do you fit genuine Hindware spare parts?
We use genuine parts where they are available to independent dealers, and OEM-grade equivalents where Hindware supplies only through its own network. We tell you which one is going in before we fit it and hand you the old part afterwards.
Which areas do you cover for Hindware service?
Hyderabad and Secunderabad, including Gachibowli, Kondapur, Madhapur, Kukatpally, Miyapur, Nizampet, Bachupally, Manikonda, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Mehdipatnam, Attapur, Uppal and LB Nagar. The full list is on the service areas page.
