Repair, deep cleaning and installation for Crompton kitchen chimneys — the filterless GrandArt hoods with Intelligent Auto-Clean, QuietPro Plus, IntelliMotion and island models — at your home across Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

We are an independent appliance repair business servicing Crompton kitchen chimneys at home in Hyderabad. We handle deep cleaning, inverter motor and control-board faults, Intelligent Auto-Clean element problems, gesture and motion sensors, oil tray faults and new installation. The widest suction range we deal with

Crompton sells hoods from about 990 m³/hr on the IntelliMotion up to 2,040 m³/hr on the GrandArt. That is a greater spread than any other brand on this site, and it means two Crompton owners can have opposite problems.

A 990 m³/hr hood in a large kitchen with heavy frying will never clear the smoke, however clean it is. A 2,040 m³/hr hood on a long, narrow duct will be loud without being effective. We ask for the model before quoting, because the fix for one is the opposite of the fix for the other.

Common Crompton chimney problems

These are the Crompton complaints we attend to most often in Hyderabad. On the inverter models the obvious diagnosis is frequently the wrong one, so we test before quoting.

SymptomMost likely causeWhat we doTypical time
Loud at high speed but little pullA 1,800 to 2,040 m³/hr hood pushed through a duct too long, narrow or sharply bentMeasure and inspect the duct run, then shorten or re-route it and fit a proper flap90–180 min
Smoke never clears on a smaller modelA 990 to 1,338 m³/hr hood in a kitchen that needs more, rather than a faultCheck duct and air replacement, advise honestly whether the hood is undersized60–120 min

Hood will not start, no sound at allA failed inverter control board rather than the motor itselfTest the board; replace the motor only if it has genuinely failed, or advise a claim60–120 min
Auto clean runs but grime is not meltingHeating element open circuit, or the cycle is run far too rarely for daily cookingTest and replace the element, degrease by hand, set a realistic interval60–120 min
Oil overflowing the removable trayTray full or misseated, or the channel feeding it is chokedClear and reseat the tray, flush the channel, renew a hardened gasket45–75 min
Gesture control ignoring you, or starting on its ownSensor lens filmed with oil, or steam being read as a handClean and re-calibrate the sensor, or replace the module40–70 min

Times are for one technician at your home and exclude waiting for a spare part that has to be ordered.

Crompton chimney models we service

Crompton chimneys sold in India, including the models below. Figures are as published by Crompton and its Indian retailers; your unit’s exact specification is on the rating sticker inside the hood.

How to read your Crompton model code

Crompton codes its chimneys as well as naming them, and the code carries the size and filter type. Crompton does not publish a key for the characters, so the entries below are read from Crompton’s own listings.

CodeWhat it meansWhy it matters for a repair
CHDThe prefix on Crompton chimney model numbersConfirms you are reading the chimney code rather than another appliance
60 / 90Width of the hood in centimetres, embedded in the codeDecides the canopy, glass and bracket we carry
FL or FLEAppears on the filterless GrandArt hoodsThe cone must be stripped by hand. Running the auto-clean cycle is not a substitute
BF or BFEAppears on the baffle-filter models such as the island GrandArt and IntelliMotionPlates can be washed by hand or in a dishwasher and are rarely replaced
MBL / INXFinish: midnight black, or inox stainless steelMatters only for replacement glass or trim panels
Intelligent Auto-CleanA high-temperature heating element melts oil and grime, draining to a removable trayThe element can fail on its own while the fan still runs perfectly normally
Silent Inverter MotorCrompton’s inverter motor with copper winding, on the GrandArtA dead hood is usually the inverter board rather than the motor winding
Turbo SuctionCrompton’s marketing name for its highest-airflow hoodsAbove about 1,800 m³/hr the duct, not the hood, usually limits what you get

Where to find it: on the rating sticker inside the hood, usually under the canopy or at the back near the duct outlet. A photo of that sticker tells us which part to bring.

Crompton’s warranty, and when to claim it

Crompton lists two years onsite on the product for the GrandArt plus ten years on the motor, with claims made through Crompton Customer Care. That is a middling product warranty with a long motor one, the pattern across most of this market.

If your hood is inside two years, or the motor itself has failed inside ten, book Crompton rather than us. We will say so on the phone rather than send a technician out for a job you can get free.

Cover differs by model and by the dealer you bought from, so check your own invoice before assuming these figures apply to your hood.

What we handle instead

Everything outside that: deep cleaning, oil and tray faults, heating elements, gesture sensors and touch panels, blocked or badly routed ducts, island hood access, lamps, installation and re-siting, physical damage, and any hood past its cover.

One honest note on Crompton’s published figures. On the GrandArt listing the overview claims noise “up to 10 dB” while the specification sheet states 44 dB for the same hood. Forty-four is the plausible figure; 10 dB is quieter than a recording studio. We mention it because customers sometimes expect silence and are then disappointed by a hood that is working correctly.

How a Crompton service visit works

  1. You send the symptom. Call or send a short video of the chimney running. Sound and smoke tell us more than a description, and it lets us carry the right spare on the first visit.
  2. We tell you what it is likely to be. You get a probable cause and a price range before anyone travels, along with the visit charge. Quote the CHD code from your sticker and we will know the size, filter type and motor before we arrive.
  3. On-site diagnosis. The technician opens the hood, checks suction at the canopy, inspects the oil channel, duct and flap, then shows you the fault before quoting.
  4. Repair or deep clean. Work is done at your home. Floors and the hob are covered, oil-soaked parts are degreased in a tray, and old parts are handed to you.
  5. Test and hand over. We run every speed, check noise and suction with the kitchen door shut, clean the work area and give you a dated bill.

Full detail on charges is on the service charges page, and the areas we cover are listed under service areas.

Crompton chimney questions

How long is the Crompton chimney warranty?

On the GrandArt, Crompton lists two years onsite on the product and ten years on the motor, with claims made through Crompton Customer Care. Cover varies by model, so check your invoice. If you are inside two years, or the motor has failed inside ten, book Crompton rather than us.

Is my Crompton really only 10 dB?

No. Crompton’s own GrandArt listing contradicts itself: the overview claims noise up to 10 dB while the specification sheet states 44 dB for the same hood. Forty-four is the realistic figure, and 10 dB would be quieter than a recording studio. A GrandArt that you can clearly hear at full speed is working as designed, not faulty.

My Crompton is loud but does not pull well. Why?

Usually the duct rather than the hood. The GrandArt runs to 2,040 m³/hr and the QuietPro Plus to 1,800, well above most brands, and a hood that powerful pushed through a long, narrow or sharply bent pipe gets loud without getting effective. We measure the duct run before touching the hood.

My smaller Crompton never clears the smoke. Is it broken?

Possibly not. The IntelliMotion starts at about 990 m³/hr, and in a large kitchen with heavy frying that is simply not enough air however clean the hood is. We check the duct and the air replacement first, then tell you honestly whether the hood is undersized rather than sell you parts that will not help.

My Crompton is dead. Do I need a new motor?

Usually not. The GrandArt uses a silent inverter motor driven by a control board, and that board fails more often than the copper winding does. We test the board first. If the motor itself has failed and you are inside the ten-year cover, claim it from Crompton.

What do the letters in CHD-GAVI90FLE-MBL mean?

Crompton does not publish a key, but from its own listings: CHD is the chimney prefix, 90 is the width in centimetres, FL or FLE marks the filterless hoods, BF or BFE the baffle-filter ones, and MBL or INX is the finish, midnight black or inox. Quote the whole code when you call and we will know what to bring.

Do you service Crompton island hoods?

Yes, including the GrandArt island model with its baffle filter and thermal auto clean. An island hood hangs over the hob with its duct usually running above a false ceiling. Cleaning needs the canopy dropped rather than filters simply unclipped, and duct work can mean opening a ceiling panel. We quote island hoods separately and tell you before the visit if that access will be needed.

Which areas do you cover?

Hyderabad and Secunderabad, including Gachibowli, Kondapur, Madhapur, Kukatpally, Miyapur, Nizampet, Bachupally, Manikonda, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Mehdipatnam, Attapur, Uppal and LB Nagar. The full list is on the service areas page.
